We’ve talked before about our favorite podcasts and email newsletters; today I’m sharing my favorite Instagram accounts.
Instagram is mostly visual, which is great for scrolling during downtimes like holding a baby, riding public transportation, waiting in a doctor’s office, or just for quick mental breaks in your day.
Here are some of my favorites:
Top pick: The Jealous Curator
Why: Because of it’s visual nature, this is a great platform to follow artists, in general. You can go down a serious rabbit hole of interesting visual art accounts.
Why: Seriously drool-worthy pics of food. Since I have a TERRIBLE sweet tooth, these lean toward baked goods, pastries, and chocolate, but not entirely. The downside of Instagram? You usually have to click around to get to recipes that you actually want to execute, which is kind of a hassle.
Why: These are two big-deal blogs in the home design world, but I like how their Instagram accounts still manage to feel personal. They’ve also got some killer collaborative-hashtag game (#dscolor is a great example).
Why: So many of these are aspirational style to me for various reasons. Mary Ellen Skye has a boho-minimalist look that is soft and pastel; Color Me Courtney wears tons of bright, saturated color in a big city; Blair Eadie often features handbags that cost more than my monthly mortgage payment. I don’t feel like my fashion choices are anywhere near photo-worthy, BUT I do enjoy seeing how other people are living their sartorial best lives.
Why: Lots of different perspectives here, from portraits and profiles in the Big Apple to snippets of Americana to funny sketches. Who doesn’t need pictures of heart-shaped things; Drake lyrics on cakes; and pugs?
